During today’s White House press briefing, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer was asked about the statement released by the White House on Holocaust Remembrance Day that curiously did not contain any references to Jewish people.
In response to a question on whether President Donald Trump will do anything about Jews proclaiming the experience was painful, Spicer noted that Trump was complimented on his statement.
“He’s aware of what people have been saying,” the press sec said. “But I think by and large he’s been praised for it.”
Spicer further added that the “president went out of his way to recognize the Holocaust” and the “people affected by it.”
His defense of Trump’s statement was similar to what Chief of Staff Reince Priebus told Meet the Press’s Chuck Todd when challenged by the host on the subject.
