Description

NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris W. Cox addresses the audience at the SCI Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. He begins by referring back to 1961 when hunting was absolutely, unapologetically cool. The world’s biggest movie stars, singers and athletes—names like John Wayne, Elvis Presley and Mickey Mantle—all unabashedly hunted.

Today though, there are groups like the Humane Society and PETA that operate under the false pretense of animal welfare and that have set out on a mission to end hunting. These people, says Cox, think animals should have the same rights as people and they compare their cause to the abolition of slavery.

But NRA’s chief lobbyist will not back down. "I refuse to be lectured or shamed by a bunch of ignorant, hypocritical people who treat animals like Gods and human beings like trash," states Cox. Instead, he vows to do the one thing he knows reinforces everything good and right about being a human on this planet—he's going to hunt, he’s going to teach his kids to hunt and he's not ever going to apologize for it.

Cox declares that this is truly the fight of a lifetime. And at the National Rifle Association, he notes, we're not only used to big fights—we're used to winning big fights.
