US Soldiers showing how they manage to load a 62 tons M1 Abrams tank inside a Boeing C-17 Globemaster III military transport plane.
The Boeing C-17 Globemaster III is a tactical transport aircraft made by Boeing Integrated Defense Systems, and operated by the US Air Force , Royal Air Force , Royal Australian Air Force and the Indian Air Force. The NATO planned to acquire the aircraft.
In the 70s, the USAF was looking for a tactical transport aircraft to replace the C-130 Hercules . There were a competition between Boeing and McDonnell Douglas . Boeing proposed the Boeing YC-14 and McDonnell Douglas proposed the McDonnell Douglas YC-15 . Both exceeded the required specifications, and the competition was canceled before the winner is chosen.
